Occupational Qualifications
What is an Occupational Qualification?

An occupational qualification refers to a credential linked to a particular trade, profession, or occupation. This qualification is acquired through experiential learning in the workplace, enabling learners to gain practical skills in their chosen field.

Occupational qualifications consist of three key elements: knowledge unit standards, practical unit standards, and work experience unit standards. The Skills Development Act outlines these standards, which serve as a framework for creating qualifications that align with industry requirements.

Additionally, occupational qualifications frequently facilitate the acknowledgment of prior learning (RPL). RPL can assist learners in reducing the duration of their program and minimizing expenses.
